THE ITALIAN STATE MINT IS CELEBRATING ONE OF THE SYMBOLS OF ITALIAN STYLE WITH A SPECIAL SILVER COIN. THE VESPA CELEBRATORY COINS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE ON THE MINT’S WEBSITE.
Milan, 11 February 2019 – The Vespa is the star of a special coin collection, which is already available for purchase from the online shop for the items in the 2019 Coin Collection. Presented in Rome on 13 December 2018 at the Finance & Economy Ministry, the collection is produced by the Italian State Mint.
For more than seventy years, the Vespa has been an icon of elegance “Made in Italy”, one of the finest examples of Italian industrial design. It is also one of the most famous brands in the world, and now it is a coin in a collection of three stylish collector coins designed by the Piaggio Group in partnership with the Italian State Mint. Made in silver in three colour versions (green, white and red), the coins form the Italian flag when purchased as a set.
Displayed in a tasteful case, the five-euro coins are produced in a silver mint set with coloured inserts highlighting the famous lines of the Vespa. The scooter appears on both sides of the coin, in the current Primavera version and in the original model, which launched a remarkable industrial success story in the spring of 1946.
Past and present merge in a single object intended for collectors and connoisseurs who appreciate the deep symbolic value of the new coins.
