VISIONS OF THE FUTURE: BEAZLEY DESIGNS OF THE YEAR.
GITA IN THE PRESTIGIOUS SHORTLIST

THE PIAGGIO FAST FORWARD CREATION IS ONE OF THE NOMINEES OF THE LONDON DESIGN MUSEUM, WHICH FOR TEN YEARS HAS BEEN SELECTING THE WORLD’S BEST INNOVATIONS IN AREAS RANGING FROM ROBOTICS TO ARCHITECTURE. AWARDS CEREMONY IN JANUARY 2018. IN THE MEANTIME, THE CANDIDATES ARE ON DISPLAY AT THE MUSEUM IN HOLLAND PARK.

The Design Museum in London has announced the shortlist for the tenth “Beazley Designs of the Year” awards, its prestigious prizes celebrating the world’s best innovations presented over the past twelve months in sectors ranging from robotics to architecture. One of the nominees in the PRODUCT category is GITA, the vehicle created by Piaggio Fast Forward (the company established by the Piaggio Group in 2015 to head operations in smart mobility for people and goods).
In the run-up to the awards ceremony for 2017 (to be held in London in January 2018), the British edition of Vogue has published a round-up of the shortlisted inventions and creations that it considers most surprising, including the GITA. Click here for Olive Pometsey’s article:

There are 62 nominations for the Beazley Designs of the Year awards, in 6 categories – Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Graphics, Product, Transport – representing a broad spectrum of disciplines, from architecture to graphics, from fashion to transport, from digital innovations to the most surprising products.

The Design Museum has chosen an international group of creatives and experts as the judging panel (Amanda Levete, David Rowan, Gerry McGovern, Marcus Engman, Margaret Calvert, Ozwald Boateng, Michael Tchao). The jury’s final selection offers a broad view of contemporary design, focusing on: social aspects, the impact of innovation on people’s lives, technologies for creative and innovative use of materials, with attention to recycling and protection of the environment.

As in previous years, the 2017 selection strengthens the Design Museum’s role as a global observatory for the creative disciplines, offering an overview of today’s design capabilities, with a focus on the near future-
EXHIBITION AT THE DESIGN MUSEUM. The “Beazley Designs of the Year” exhibition can be seen at the Design Museum from 8 October 2017 to 28 January 2018. It provides an exploration of the present and future of architecture, fashion, digital and much else besides.
