July 2023 (G. T.) – Great travellers with small vehicles: they are Mirco Targon and Alice Zanni, stars of an incredible “Paris Dakar on Ciao” trip last year. Not having had their fill of adventures, they have already announced their new project – “NORTH CAPE-CAPE TOWN ON CIAO 2021-2024” that they present in this great video.

MIRCO AND ALICE – OUR GREAT “ON THE ROAD” DREAM.
VIDEO BY MIRAL:

English translation of the audio: “We could choose to travel anywhere in the world, but two years ago we embarked on a path with a great dream in our back pocket, which we were afraid to reveal because even we thought it impossible - unattainable. However, tackling the road over these past years, kilometre after kilometre, with courage, helped by you who have followed us, we acquired strength and preparation. And today, we are finally ready to reveal that, after riding our Ciao bikes to the roof of Europe, reaching Cape North in 2021, and after experiencing the extremely difficult adventure of the Paris-Dakar on African soil in 2022, we are ready to continue, joining two extreme ends of the world to fulfil that dream we began two years ago. This is our “NORTH CAPE-CAPE TOWN ON CIAO 2021-2024”: 2 continents, 23 countries, 18,500 km”. Video by Mirco and Alice, Miral.

Mirco explains, “This project was born in 2021 when we did our journey from Vicenza to Cape North, then continuing with the ‘Paris Dakar’ ride in 2022. And this year, our journey will continue with the goal of arriving in Cape Town, South Africa in August 2024. We experience our trip in legs because we both work and we only have the month of August to travel.”

From north to south, ideally joining two extreme ends of the world: from Cape North, Norway, the northernmost point of Europe, to Cape Town, the capital of South Africa, crossing two continents and 23 countries, 18,500 km long. A new challenge for this unstoppable pair of riders, united for two decades by their passion for travel, motorbikes, and mopeds, with their Piaggio Ciao 50 machines.
And their fan base keeps growing. And we are part of it. Have a good trip Mirco and Alice, may the road be with you.

ON THE EVE OF DEPARTURE, ASTRIDE THE PIAGGIO CIAO AT THE STELVIO PASS.

“16 July 2023. There are two weeks left before our departure for Africa and, in the meantime, we are continuing with the tests on the new engines, hunting for a bit of cool in the Dolomite passes…With tanks full, we begin the Stelvio Pass ascent, taking the first hairpin turns that slice through the thick pine groves which accompany us all the way up. The CIAO mopeds, initially sprightly and full of energy, struggle to climb but don’t give up, demonstrating all their character for the numerous motorbikes that overtake us and which we readily greet.

Each wave, each look, each sign is a celebration... We are experiencing moments of great emotion, often accompanied by goose flesh, certainly not caused by the current temperatures because, despite ascending in altitude, they are staying unexpectedly high. These 21.5 km of ascent that accompanies us from the 1,200 metres of Bormio to the 2,758 metres of the Stelvio Pass with an average gradient of 7.1% are a significant challenge, but necessary for us and for our CIAO…”
