September (G.T.) – We have written several times in Wide magazine about Mauro Tresoldi’s passion for Vespa travel, the Lodi native who is well known in the vast Vespa community. And we are happy to mention him once again with his new adventure, this time not a solo ride, but with an exceptional Vespista, and soon we’ll find out who. Mauro Tresoldi (Vespa Club Lodi) writes, “This summer, Vespista Giuseppina Serra (from Pomezia, Vespa Club Roma) and I completed an extraordinary European tour (from 2 through 28 July 2023), travelling through 7 nations, along 7,000 km: SLOVENIA, HUNGARY, AUSTRIA, ROMANIA, BULGARIA, TURKEY, AND GREECE. A demanding and fantastic road trip astride our beloved vintage Vespas: Giuseppina on her 1974 Rally 200 and I with my 1985 PX 125 Arcobaleno.”

Congratulations to both for the undertaking. But that’s not all. Vespista-gentleman Mauro continues, “I believe that Giuseppina Serra can claim the record as the first Italian woman to travel the Transfagarasan, in Romania, on a Vespa, the transalpine road that is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. So, Giuseppina accomplished a proper female Italian undertaking. An event to announce and highlight, also to debunk the prejudice that only men travel thousands of km in the saddle, tackling demanding rides.”

So, it is our pleasure to promote this fantastic undertaking, highlighting the first by Vespista Giuseppina Serra (thus far unprecedented) who also stands out for her initiatives in favour of humanitarian organisations, therefore placing her among the great Vespiste. Brava!
The tour from Italy towards Eastern Europe and the Balkans, passing through the Carpathians and reaching Turkey (Istanbul) was a true adventure, as the Vespa travellers note. The encounter with bears in Romania, fording a river and passing through sections struck by the fires in Greece… Only the braves!
