March 2024 (G.T.) – Surprise: “mod culture” is not a memory from the sixties, but it is still very much alive and attracting new generations. And in London, where that cultural phenomenon was born and spread across the English Channel, a testament to this is the big event “MODSTOCK 2024”: dedicated to those who, young at the time, lived through that unforgettable era, and to those who, young now, are fascinated by it.

The organisers explain (New Untouchables): “The much-anticipated MODSTOCK is once every decade. We have put together an amazing three-day program celebrating Modculture in the heart of London, Easter weekend, from 18 through 31 March. The Mod phenomenon has touched the hearts and souls of so many and continues to influence fashion, music, art and design today. MODSTOCK is a celebration of 60 years of Mod, not from its mysterious birth but from when it swept across the whole of Britain.

Our friends at Detail Magazine have assembled some very special guest speakers for our Q&A on Friday afternoon covering Fashion, Clubbing and Books.

If Scooters are your thing then join the ride out taking in London’s iconic landmarks. However, the best way to see the capital is from the Thames so we have booked a four-hour riverboat party on Sunday afternoon, taking in the sights and sounds of London.

At Modstock 2024, visitors will be expected to dress for the event. For inspiration, you can always check out the cult film “Quadrophenia” by Franc Roddam (1979), taken from an album by the Who, producers of the film. One of the stars of the film was Sting (“Ace” in the film), who rides a spectacular Vespa GS 150, exhibited in the Piaggio Museum for the fortunate exhibit, “Vespa and the Cinema” (November 2010 - January 2011). Italian actor Alessandro Gassman was on hand for the grand opening, posing astride the extremely flashy Vespa, which is also on the exhibit poster, designed by Ugo Nespolo.
